Lucy Poole – Physio
Senior Chartered Physiotherapist
MSc Sports Physiotherapy, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HPC)
Lucy graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Lucy worked in North Devon for 3 years completing her NHS junior rotations.
She then moved to New Zealand where she spent 5 years working at a highly reputable Sports Physiotherapy Clinic (and enjoying the sunshine and amazing outdoor lifestyle!). In this time she provided treatment to a range of patients from the weekend warrior to the professional NZ Women’s rugby team.
On returning to the UK Lucy completed her MSc in Sports Physiotherapy, over 5 years from the University of Bath, graduating in 2022. This advanced her diagnostic skills, manual therapy and exercise prescription- focusing on current evidence-based research.
Lucy aims to initially relieve symptoms, but often, more importantly, has the passion and experience to highlight the underlying causative factor to prevent the recurrence of injury/pain. This includes full muscle balance screening assessment, specific and individualised strengthening programmes and when applicable structured and progressive return to sport plans.
Lucy has also completed post graduate training in acupuncture and advanced dry needling (for trigger point release) and uses this on a regular basis in clinical practice for immediate reduction in pain and improvement in movement and function.
She is also a qualified APPI Pilates instructor teaching on a one-to-one basis and class environment to improve flexibility, posture and strength- vital in the rehabilitation of both acute and chronic injuries.
Lucy is experienced in running/gait analysis, strapping, acute injury management (LUBAS pitchside qualified). She has worked with both local and international level rugby teams whilst in NZ providing acute pitchside care and off pitch treatment, rehab and injury prevention screening.
Lucy has a specialist interest in treating facial and jaw pain receiving many referrals from dentists for patients with symptoms that are not dental related.
When not working you will find Lucy outdoors; mountain biking, running, hiking, surfing, generally anything active, so she understands the importance of returning to what you love ASAP!
