Julia Grzywna

Senior Chartered Physiotherapist

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, FdSc Sports Therapy, Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

Julia graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2020 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. She completed her junior physiotherapy rotations within the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, gaining experience across a broad range of specialities including musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, community physiotherapy and acute hospital services. This varied clinical experience provided a strong foundation in the assessment and management of a wide range of conditions before progressing into specialist musculoskeletal practice.

Orthopaedic & Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

Julia has a particular interest in the assessment and rehabilitation of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries. She regularly works with patients recovering from acute injuries, surgical procedures and long-standing joint or soft tissue conditions, helping them regain strength, mobility and confidence in movement. Her approach focuses on creating personalised rehabilitation programmes that support a safe and effective return to work, sport and everyday activities.

Shoulder Rehabilitation

A key area of clinical interest is shoulder assessment and rehabilitation. Following completion of a specialist shoulder rehabilitation course in London in 2025, Julia has developed expertise in the management of rotator cuff-related shoulder pain, shoulder instability, frozen shoulder, post-operative rehabilitation and complex shoulder presentations. She combines evidence-based exercise therapy, movement retraining and hands-on techniques to optimise recovery and long-term shoulder function.
To further advance her skills in upper limb rehabilitation, Julia is due to complete the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine Cervical Spine and Upper Limb Module in early 2027.

Persistent Pain Management & Yoga-Based Rehabilitation

Julia has a particular interest in supporting individuals with persistent and chronic pain conditions, combining current pain science with practical rehabilitation strategies to improve confidence, movement and quality of life. She incorporates principles of nervous system re-education and desensitisation, using breathing techniques, body awareness and gradual exposure to movement to help patients better understand and manage their symptoms.

Alongside this, Julia has a strong interest in yoga-inspired rehabilitation, particularly for low back pain and long-standing musculoskeletal conditions. By integrating therapeutic movement, mobility exercises and breathwork into rehabilitation programmes, she helps patients improve movement quality, reduce fear of movement and develop long-term self-management strategies. Her holistic approach recognises the important relationship between the body, nervous system and recovery, empowering patients to regain trust in their bodies and return to the activities that matter most to them.
